Review of The Last House on the Left (1972) by Audri N — 25 May 2009
LHOTL feels very amateurish and sloppy compared to the directorial debuts of Tobe Hooper and George A. Romero, for example. But it's an interesting piece of exploitation nonetheless - a trashy film that against all odds manages to (more or less consciously) reflect the collective traumas of the American society in the 70s.
