Review of The Last House on the Left (1972) by Kristian M — 04 Feb 2011
Even on blu-ray, this is not a film that looks good. However, getting past the visuals, this is a beautifully told story of of deprevasion and calloused selfishness. There is a gritty reality to the movie (which I suspect is probably not true, regardless of the disclaimer at the beginning) which helps to capture the imagination and draw me into the story.
The music--while not typical for this type of movie--was pretty awesome, especially a lot of the ambient noise stuff while they're in the woods. Great--and apparently underrated--film.
