Review of The Last House on the Left (1972) by Terry M — 08 Dec 2012
It's gritty, screwed-up exploitation. So many people see the out-of-place comic relief as the movie's worst weak point, but I see it as another thing that makes it so oddly unique. It shows that the movie itself has just as fucked up of a mind as the criminals in it.
The acting is okay, but the editing is awful. The characters were great, but some of the dialogue is strange and at some points uncomfortable. But, that just adds to its strange charm. It remains one of my favorite horror films as well as one of my all-time favorite films in general.
