Review of The Last House on the Left (1972) by Mark D — 09 Oct 2011
Just watched a cut version for the first time. Its took me 29 years to watch this film, having previously stayed away from any film with rape. Such a shame, but now I can appreciate it for what it is. A brutal depiction of stolen innocence and its concequence. Soundtrack is particularly excellent and the acting is very good for an amatur film. The newsfootage camera work acts as a catalyst for reality. Its disturbing and thought provoking. Need to see the uncut version now. God damned BBFC.
After a 2nd viewing it gets an extra half star. Once ive seen it uncut it still may go up. Superb picture!
Krug and Company - Pretty much the same except Mari is found alive. RIP David Hess.
