Review of The Last House on the Left (1972) by Matthew F — 16 May 2011
This movie, though had an original story is quite poory executed. This movie deals with much every parents knightmare, with dark characters and situations. But the movie has little direction.
The characters are internesting they are all sociopaths of a high level, but to be honest David Hess and Krug (A shortened name of one of wes cravens most famous creations) is the only one worth noting, he has the right look and believeable leader of the pack intentions which were interesting. But this movie is like a combination of the beverly hill billys, any which way but loose and I spit on your grave roleed into one, it trys to switch between scenes of disgust and then to warm fuzzy home life, between the emoutional unstable and the stable but after a while just seems like it is eating time to get to the end product. Yes there is rape and torture but its not that bad, in terms of rape the scene is very tame, I could go on for a while detailing the little bits that were interesting and surprising but this movie does not warrent the arse ache, not very good, though interesting in a few parts.
