Review of The Last House in the Woods (2006) by Bill C — 15 Nov 2008
This movie, like many others, takes a fairly hackneyed plot but adds in its own twist. In Wes Craven's, "The Last House on the Left," it was the bad guys who ended up at the good guys' house; in this film it's the other way around.
However, unlike Craven's nightmarish flick, this film actually has a plot which floats on its own. Ultimately, this film suffers from a lack of character development and an unusual mellow-dramatic plot twist at the end which is so out of place it comes off as absurd rather than startlingly ironic.
