Review of The Last Exorcism (2010) by João P — 26 Oct 2011
Exorcism movies either can't escape the influence of Friedkin's THE EXORCIST, or they simply have no desire to. THE LAST EXORCISM is a film with similar themes in that it focuses on a priest losing his faith, only to find himself face-to-face with the Devil himself.
It features some less-theatrical vomiting, bodily contortions, etc. The way director Daniel Stamm chose to shake it up was to marry this premise with the aesthetic of THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT.
