Review of The Last Exorcism (2010) by Ken K — 21 Oct 2012
The first half of the movie was quite interesting, but then it got slightly repetitive. They didn't get much spookiness out of the little girl after all, either, until the actual possession scene in the barn which was well done. The documentary-outlook was a nice touch and worked well with this movie.
I liked the movie despite the slower-paced middle. The ending was a a bit like a harsher version of Rosemary's baby. If I could have changed something in the movie, it would have probably concerned the ending: it could have been a bit longer. The film lead up to it, after all. A lot of things were left unexplained.
The film could have utilised more music. There was some, a little bit, slightly menacing, but the movie theatre could have handled much more in the way of sound scape. There were not many special effects, hardly any, but the film worked well, because those that were there were well used at the right points into the movie.
Had some spooky moments and a fun ending. Was left with a feeling of wanting a bit more of this stuff, though. So perhaps it could have been a bit longer film.
