Review of The Last Exorcism (2010) by Toh H — 25 Dec 2011
Though the movie did keep me interested and there were plenty of times when I knew something was going to scare the crap out of me, but overall it fell flat. Most of the scares didn't come from actual scares but from loud music cues, which is what horror movies have become in the past 10 years.
Unlike "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" which genuinely scared me this one did not, I kept thinking it was going to scare me, but it didn't, it was all build up to nothing. The ending felt very much like the ending of "Blair Witch".
One of the good things in the movie is that there was actually more going on then just the "documentary" unlike the other "documentary" films out there like "Paranormal Activity" or "Cloverfield" I feel that this one had more a story going on other then the what is presented.
