Review of The Last Emperor (1987) by Jake R — 01 Apr 2008
Too long and the second half suffers from 'Gandhi'-syndrome, but for all that this is still a visually stunning and touching epic, with a unique insight into the different ages of the Emperor. A fitting tribute to a constricted, then stolen, life, the last scene packs one of the biggest emotional wallops in many a great film.
