Review of The Last Emperor (1987) by Daniel K — 04 Feb 2009
I love this film! Bertolucci takes Pu-Yi's story and wraps it around a fascinating conceit: How can a man be born as the leader of a huge, ancient country like China and die, decades later, as a simple gardener? I was mesmerized by the journey Pu-Yi took, and how at the end, he emerged content with his place in life.
