Review of The Last Emperor (1987) by Skyler W — 16 Jun 2009
'The Last Emperor' is a really powerful and equally long film. I absolutely loved the first hour of this film. The little Emperor was really powerful and with the accompaniment of the amazing cinematography really made this a first hour to remember.
I didn't really care for the third hour when the film focused mostly on the Emperor's wives. I did really love the ending with the little boy at the end. This film is truly epic as it really tells the story of his entire life.
I think that John Lone and Peter O'Tool were excellent. This film was amazing on many aspects, but I think it was just a bit long. Truly a masterpiece and a real contribution to cinema that is for sure.
