Review of The Last Emperor (1987) by Kristen S — 03 Dec 2009
I'm giving this 4 stars for the beauty and artistry of the production, costume, and set design solely. the screenplay is full of standard-issue hollywood biopic cliches. the acting varies from weak to ok (john lone is pretty boring as the emperor).
the first half is much more interesting than the last. BUT for the sumptuous photography and accurate replication of chinese culture from 1908-1967, it's worth checking out.
