I was really annoyed by the fact that the characters spoke English to each other in the movie. While I could understand the necessity of doing this, it was still very off-putting to me and made it really hard for me to relate to the movie.

Nevertheless, the dramatic story of Pu Yi is an amazing one, regardless of in what language it is told.
