It's extremely unlikable in the beginning on account of the fucking 3 year old emperor. He made one of his eunuchs drink green ink. Sounds crazy. Anyway, as the movie progresses, Pun Yi receives a tutor played by Peter O Toole who is magnificent in this film.
From that point the movie became more absorbing till the end.
