Review of The Last Command (1955) by Darren S — 03 Apr 2009
The Republic did a good job with this film, especially in their choice of actors. Sterling Hayden is a convincing Jim Bowie, and also Richard Carlson as William B. Travis. Arthur Hunnicutt did a good job as Davy Crockett.
Ana Maria Alberghetti has a sweet face and through the live she shows for Jim Bowie, we are able to understand what a living legend he must have been. All films about the story of Texas has one problem: it is confusing to those who are not familiar with it.
The Last Command suffers from this problem, too many events are only mentioned, without being shown. This movie is good but could have been better.
