Review of The Last Boy Scout (1991) by Tom R — 05 Sep 2009
The reason why I like action movies so much is because most of them are implausible. The protagonists dodge bullet after bullet and still have time to spit one-liners relating to the bad guy's death.
They are superheros. Shane Black, who wrote this movie, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Lethal Weapon, and The Long Kiss Goodnight, is my favorite action movie screenwriter because he is great with witty (obscenity-filled) dialog and memorable action scenes.
It's great to see the star of Die Hard and the director of True Romance paired together for an over-the-top experience. I say see it, but be prepared for an escapist action movie, complete with corny bad guys and an unbelievable plot that were so popular in the 1990's.
