Review of The Last Boy Scout (1991) by Caleb H — 22 Apr 2012
I have yet to be disappointed by anything Shane Black has written, probably because his dialogue is so above-and-beyond the action scripts he churns out. The Last Boy Scout is definitely a 'Check your brain at the door' movie, but it's no more silly or boneheaded than the rest of the early 90's action "blockbusters", which, I'll admit, I have a soft spot for.
Tony Scott has a great eye for directing fast-paced action, and there's decent buddy chemistry between Bruce Willis and, of all people, Damon Wayans. My chief gripe is that the bad guy had so much potential, and they snagged the old guy from Walker: Texas Ranger to play him.
