Review of The Last American Virgin (1982) by Hunter D — 23 Sep 2007
I don't know why this movie is seen as such an underrated gem from the 80's, because it is, quite frankly, a steaming piece of shit. The main characters are all comically sex-crazed morons who all go to idiotic lengths to have sex under the most dubious circumstances, and to make things worse, the friendship between the three characters never comes through at all in the story.
They just seem like three guys that team up to tag team any girl dumb enough to sleep with them. Normally I'd give this movie the lowest rating possible, however it does have some redeeming qualities.
The movie's main strength is the brilliant and incredibly true to life ending (right fellas?), the only problem is that you have to sit through the most mindless teen sex-comedy bullshit to get there, but it's almost worth it, to me anyway, most viewers would probably just get pissed off.
The movie also has an awesome soundtrack from awesome 80's bands like Devo and The Cars, although hilariously upbeat songs are used at some of the most inappropriate times. Overall, I don't know what people see in this movie, there are other films that have the same things to offer that are delivered on a better plate.
Go rent "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" again instead.
