The characters are not fleshed out, the dialogue is uninteresting and poorly delivered, the direction is flat, and the plot is rushed through so quickly that one must wonder if Shyamalan was even the least bit aware of what made the TV show such a hit.
It's an insult to fans of both the show and filmmaking in general. If ever there was a film series that actually needed a reboot, this is it.
