Anger and sadness pervaded me as I watched this film. It was so moving that I actually teared up a bit (and that rarely happens when I watch even the most dramatic films). I guess it's because those thoughts of "It could have been me" or "It could've been any of the people I care about" were in the back of my mind the whole time.

It also left me breathless because of how well-made this film was. It's an all-star cast but each of them delivered. It's as if all of them became the characters that they were portraying. But I've got to mention Laura Linney's character because she's hateful even though she thinks she's not.

That was my favourite scene (among many) because that's reality, that's the world we live in today. There are people out there that believe they don't hate or don't have a problem with homosexuals but deep down, they do.

That scene was so devastating for me, especially when she said, "I don't understand. I don't understand." I really want to buy this on DVD because every time I watch it, I want to be reminded that hate is out there, that it will be a part of my life until the day I die.

I want to not forget about Matthew, what happened to him, his sacrifice, and how the world responded to his death. I want to be reminded of those people that held up signs that says "Matthew Shepard rots in Hell," "AIDS Kills Fags Dead," and "God Hates Fags.

" I want to be reminded of their hate because it's what keeps me stronger day after day.
