Never liked the original, loved the sequels after it (until #7.. then it became very pathetic) ... this movie is actually kind of scary, especially for kids who are afraid of dinosaurs (i.e. me) .. the characters are a bit mean to each other, but if you were to make the human equivalent (around 6 year olds, I would guess) travel -- I don't know-- across three states with only their knapsacks and 15 dollars, I'm sure they'd be just as nasty and naive to each other as the dinosaur troupe in this movie.
