Review of The Lake House (2006) by Delilah K — 05 Oct 2012
The first thing that comes into mind, when I think about this movie, is: beautiful. A 5 stars rating of this movie might not be totally rational. It's probably not the best acting ever seen; though it's decent what Sandra and Keanu deliver and not annoyingly bad. The dialogues are somewhat cliche and the story quite cheesy, granted. Also, what many people complain about, is that you have your typical time paradoxon. But I really didn't care and it's not THAT obvious (at least until the end), so you really CAN just lean back and enjoy without thinking about it. Or if you really care about it... [SPOILER] Imagine, he didn't get the last letter and died. Then everything is perfectly in sync again. Well, kind of.. ;).
Still, it's very nice. Maybe it's because I love the thought of your own lovely house being even more than just a place to live. Maybe it's the lovestory out of sync. Maybe I like the cinematography. What definitely is very very wonderful is the music. The music is really beautiful.
I don't know. I love this movie. It's kind, the setting is lovely, the cast is enjoyable, albeit simple. It's just the perfect movie for a rainy sunday afternoon. (Oh, and my personal experience says it's helpful when you're lovesick.).
