Review of The Lake House (2006) by Yvonne P — 03 Jan 2013
Mini Review 4 - The Lake House.
Plot:
Architect Alex Wyler (Keanu Reeves) and Dr. Kate Forster (Sandra Bullock (L)) correspond through letters across time lines but from a single location - postal box at a lake house. After a series of no-knowledge encounters, they finally manage to meet up at the same lake house irrespective of all barriers.
Positives:
--> Cinematography by Alar Kivilo is absolutely stunning and the visuals are extremely captivating and.
--> Musical score by Rachel Portman can't get any better as it infuses huge amounts of romantic spirit in to the story.
--> Sensible and mature performances by Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves - philosophical in many ways towards loneliness and separation.
Negatives:
--> Plot's internal logic of "time paradox" totally waters down the movie's spirit.
--> Confusing mix of events cutting across time periods and.
--> Botched up realization point towards the end.
