Review of The Ladykillers (2004) by Ryan H — 23 Jul 2010
"Oh yeah, it's the easiest thing in the world.".
I liked The Ladykillers a lot more than I expected. Perhaps that's what happened when people saw it, they expected a lot since it was the Coen brothers, but with my expectations low I found it to be funny. It even did a great job showing the differences between an old fashioned woman and the youth today without doing it in a cliche way. The opener to Mrs Munson was priceless hearing her talk to the sheriff about "hippity hop" and how they call black people "n****s" in their songs. I understand that the Coen brothers remade this from a classic British comedy, so it seems like that should warrant this more applause. They do a great job making the movie their own and creating a big American feel for the movie.
