Review of The Lady in the Van (2015) by Tim M — 17 Feb 2016
Two-time Academy Maggie Smith is reason alone to watch this, but not the only reason. The story is refreshing, honest at the right moments and often funny. While in no way perfect it's lighthearted, yet heartfelt by the end.
You'll likely shed a tear if you're engaged, but this movie needs your undivided attention. If you're not willing to give this film 100% you will be left empty. There were two annoying aspects for me, there was an ending added to the ending which wasn't necessary and having two people playing one person talking to himself, while summed up at the end was a bit of a put off.
That sentence alone should be enough to confuse the bejesus out of you. Smith is incredible playing the lady in the van and the story was an enjoyable diversion from the everyday blow stuff up films.
