Review of The Lady from Shanghai (1947) by Drew M — 21 Jul 2008
The voice-over in this film is spectacular. It should be seen as a perfect example for a narrator in a film. It's a shame that film schools encourage students away from VO, on the one hand, I can understand because when VO sucks it sounds EMO.
On the other hand, when it's good, it really enhances a story such that the audience can acquire an insight normally attained in literature.
