Review of The Lady from Shanghai (1947) by Nate W — 24 May 2009
Orson Welles' "The Lady from Shanghai" moves at an unserviceably fast pace, propelled by largely unconvincing acting. Even Welles, known for his transformative performances, is mediocre. Only the sexy Rita Hayworth stands out with a compelling performance.
The clumsy editing and sound work only add insult to the injury of this disappointing let-down from a usually terrific director.
