Review of The Lady from Shanghai (1947) by Sam C — 21 Jul 2009
There are two main types of Orson Welles movies from what I can tell: classic and unbelievably good drama and really really weird noir flicks. This is one of the latter. Very slim, very short, and very talky.
Also very hard to follow, that comes with the territory, but it is one of those mysteries where you can figure it out before the protagonist if you're paying close attention. It's certainly not on the same level as a movie like The Third Man, but it is a touch more engaging than The Stranger and Mr Arkadin.
And Rita Hayworth was a smoking fox. Yowza!
