Review of The Lady from Shanghai (1947) by Lori B — 01 Nov 2010
Honestly, this film is kind of a mess. The editing is terrible, and the first half to two-thirds is overly convoluted and just flat strange. But the finale is pure Welles brilliance, and it's enough to make the entire enterprise worth seeing.
Plus, Welles' legendary eye for light and shadow is everywhere here, and he was simply a genius,.
