(1948) The Lady From Shanghai.
FILM NOIR THRILLER/ MYSTERY/ SUSPENSE.
Young lady meets a unemployed hitch hiker with intentions of hiring him to monitor her husband's yacht when at the same time quite aware that she's using him to do other things!
Orson Welles who gained alot of notoriety by directing one of the most studied films of all time "Citizen Kane", first attempt at directing this oddball film noir/mystery which has similar tones to his later feature "A Touch Of Evil" can be captivating, with some memorable dialogue! The movie which also starred by Orson Welles, was at the time married to his co-star Rita Hayworth and was not a boxoffice hit because of the changing of Rita's natural hair color from red to becoming a blond! But the hallway of mirrors scene was one of the most inspirational scenes of all time!
3 out of 4.
