Review of The Krays (1990) by Nate J — 06 Mar 2013
I watched his movie as part of an assignment comparing a British gangster movie with an American gangster movie. The American one was Goodfellas, and obviously with Scorsese directing a bigger budget piece, it's better.
This movie is good, but to me the shots chosen and it's style of filmmaking makes the atmosphere feel more like a horror film than a gangster. I hated the acting of Kate Hardie, it just felt too forced and wasn't seamless.
However, the rest of the cast were brilliant and the story (based on the real Kray brothers) is compelling. All in all, a worthy watch.
