This is a quality motion picture. The kind that doesn't get made anymore, it's defenitly not playing to the family crowd heavily but it isn't pessimistic or mean spirited. It's simply a great story played out by great actors.

People love films like this, an odd couple becoming friends, a plot that has an emotional weight, humor, family drama, period piece, historical significance all with a premise that doesn't sound that interesting but is really a joy to watch unfold.

Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush own it here, they play off each other so well and have a great character dynamic. Guy Pearce is great to watch as usual and all the family drama with the English monarchy is historically fascinating! Some people will come down on this as being overly "feel good".

But who cares? This is a great movie, unfortunalty by being that, it doesn't burn itself into your memory like something more brooding and heavy does (at least for me). This is a great movie with a script that has meat on it's bones and is pulled so well together by Tom Hooper.

I can't imagine anyone not enjoying this movie.
