It is surprising to note that this film was intended to be a low-ish budget, independent British film and has now succeeded as a powerful masterpiece with capturing performances from the well-paired duo of Geoffrey Rush and Colin Firth, and will enlighten those unaware of the wholly dramatic and sympathetic life led by King George VI.
