Review of The King's Speech (2010) by Heather C — 13 Jul 2014
Full of heart, brilliantly acted, and near-flawlessly cast. The plot is slow-moving, perhaps off-putting to people with limited amounts of attention, but overcoming a speech disorder is no action-adventure film.
The pain and fear of a childhood lived under tyranny is plain on Colin Firth's face. Helena Bonham Carter was unrecognizable. The R rating is absurdly Victorian; the cursing scene is a breakthrough.
