WOW! I'm am very stingy with my 100 percents. I wouldn't consider my self to have high standards, I mean I give a lot of 90's but i'm careful where my perfects. What amazes me is that I have two 100's for 2010 and it's difficult for me to chose between this and The Social Network. .

The King's speech is a wonderfully acted, very sharply written and actually truly moving piece of cinema. I don't know why but I thought this movie was going to be one that mainly carried by it's performances. Even if that were true this would still be a very good movie. The three leads in this movie are phenomenal and I wouldn't be surprised if each of them won an Oscar.

Colin Firth gives a masterful performance as King George VI, he's not just relying on the stammer for a good performance he really makes the character his own, The king is very moving and also very relate-able somehow. Thanks to his performance we see this lifestyle in a whole new light, not necessarily as privileged but almost as a burden. We feel for this character as he is unexpectedly thrusted into the kingship after his would be king brother relinquished the throne to marry a divorced woman and he has to deal with tremendous pressure. Since we don't know much about this king it can't really be said to be an imitation.

Geoffry Rush gives his best performance that I have seen from him in a long time, He sort of plays a posh version of Mr.Myagi. His commanding presence automatically brings something to the role, but he is a very real character and truly likeable. Bonahm-Carter should be mentioned, she did very well with the role it has to be said but may not be aswell remembered due to the other two leads.

The script is very sharp, the only one this year that would give Adam Sorkin a run for his money. Maybe the dialog is not as natural as the Social Network, but you must take into account the year it was set. The many moments of light humour.

worked very well, and I (in my most cynical of moods)was actually moved at times. And when you genuinely feel sympathy for a man who is King of an Empire you know something has been done right.

Overall The King's speech for me is a near perfect movie.Without any major flaws, It's an throughly entertaining film that's engaging, maybe a little Hollywood but it is in no way just a feel-good movie.10/10.
