With great performances all around this film delivers on a...Taboo social stigma, stuttering, and makes it known and also makes for a moving period drama.

Watching this film I couldn't help but feel...sorry and sad for Berttie. Him having this speech impediment and then having to address the country at a time of great fear must have been horrible for him. I mean think about it. Here is a man that is suppose to be almost the saviour so to speak of his country but how can someone take him serious if he's stuttering his words? It really makes you sad for the king he's trying so hard but just can't do it. That is until he meets Lionel Logue a speech therapist recommended to him by his wife. Reluctant at first to accept his help the King eventually warms up to Lionel's teachings and the two become the best of friends,Bertie even goes so far as to say that he will not do a speech unless Lionel is there,.

The film was amazing and FILLED with great performances from Colin ferths haunting but amazing portrayal as the stammering King and Godfrey Rush as the kings speech therapist that as the film progress you actually believe that these two actors are actually the real life people they're portraying. And when they do scenes that look and possibly sound ridiculous on film,IE the scene where they practice the kings "Jaw movements" or having him Swear like a sailor to get everything he's frustrated about in his life out there. Is all believable and makes think "YEAH he probably did that in real life".

As I said the story is simply amazing and really, for me, entertaining and almost sad. Like I said watching the king stutter really makes you feel sorry for him and then to watch his one brother make fun of him,who in turn is really the films only antagonist, makes you really want to say "YOU BASTARD. Leave him alone." during the film. Actually there where times in the film I was actually YELLING at my TV because the brother was so mean and hurtful to his brother. I just couldn't believe it "THAT'S YOUR ON BROTHER HOW COULD YOU SAY THOSE THINGS TO HIM" was literally what I yelled at my TV. I've honestly NEVER had that happened to me before while watching a film.

In closing this film is great it won the academy award in 2010 for best picture and it DEF. Deserved it. I honestly couldn't find any real lows in the film. And applaud the film for tackling a thing like speech impediment the way it did.
