Review of The King's Speech (2010) by Clive F — 27 Apr 2013
Oscar winning drama, based on the true story of King George VI, who suffered from a debilitating speech impediment and who only became King following the death of his father and the abdication of his older brother from the throne.
Quite a few well-known actors (Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, Helena Bonham Carter and Timothy Spall to name a few) in a movie that foregoes action and excitement in favour of a more sedate character study. As such, it did well at all the various award ceremonies (not just the Oscars), but it's not one that I personally would be in any rush to see again!
