Kings of Summer, the directorial debut of Columbia College alum Jordan Vogt-Roberts, is possibly the first film i've ever seen to combine offbeat comedy with Thoreau-esque self reflection. The sharp writing, intricate and detailed shots, and fantastic performances from it's young stars make this one of the the summer's most pleasant surprises.
