Review of The Kings of Summer (2013) by Chris K — 01 Jan 2014
A quirky coming-of-age comedy. It is not a laugh fest but it does convey subtle humor that occasionally breaks over to true hilarity. The acting is good, especially that of actor Nick Offerman playing Joe's father.
The story is somewhat schizoid in its apparent attempt to say something serious while remaining a light comedy. The climax of the story works but it is a bit too pat. All in all, I found it an entertaining and enjoyable film.
