Review of The Kings of Summer (2013) by James R — 06 Feb 2014
I pleasantly was surprised at how much I overall enjoyed this film! It is about three rebellious teenagers that decide to build a cabin in the woods and run away from their homes and live out in the woods.
Joe (Nick Robinson) lives with his father (played brilliantly by Nick Offerman) who is still adjusting to life since his mother passed. Patrick (Gabriel Basso) has two of the most non-private parents that bug and embarrass him about everything and Biaggio (Moises Arias) is just a strange kid.
All three run away in hopes of living the way they want, but soon realize that's not the case. The film works well by showing a bunch of teenagers finally realizing that life isn't going to be the same and things change.
Friends become enemies, girls choose different people, life moves on. It's shot really well and I highly recommend checking it out!!!
