Review of The Kings of Summer (2013) by Aaron J — 08 Dec 2013
Crappy, disappointing, over the top. These are just a few words that describe The Kings of Summer. The Kings of Summer is one of those quirky teen movies that is so full of itself and so confident in its writing and its actors acting capabilities that it falls flat on its face.
The film is a coming of age story about 3 teens wanting to break away from their lives at home that they decide to go and build a house in the woods. In the first 20 minutes I just kept waiting for this film to get better, but to no avail it didn't.
The kids were terrible in their performance and everybody else just acted like a total jackass. Writer Chris Galleta tries to institute little pieces of dialouge that tries to come off as funny and it just pissed me off.
The ON|LY person I liked in this movie was Nick Offerman, only because I sympathized his pain in how ridiculous this movie is. ** of ****.
