Review of The Kingdom (2007) by Ally D — 29 Jul 2009
This well-made film starts with a bang (literally), then takes the next hour or so to wind up the tension before a big, action-heavy finale. It's effective, though director Peter Berg's shaky camera work sometimes muddles things a little, and drops 'The Kingdom' a notch below the 'Bourne' movies by Paul Greengrass.
That's not a fair comparison, though; this is a completely different kind of movie. Not just a straightforward popcorn flick (like Berg's previous good action flick, 'The Rundown'), 'The Kingdom' is a little dark, and makes you think. Nicely done.
