Review of The Kingdom (2007) by Kaye K — 27 Apr 2012
Stimulating despite its primordial violence. I'm not a fan of Garner trying to push the Feminism but at the same time crying over people getting killed and seemingly being an experienced FBI agent. It was nice to see Bateman in a different role he did well. Foxx on the hand was solid until he took off his sun glasses and lost his cool in the last 15 minutes.
The plot was unique for choosing to look at the lesser known Saudi extremism. I've always wanted to go to Saudi Arabia, and was hoping to have seen some of their culture, but it was filmed at ASU and Abu Dhabi. Regardless, I was intrigued. However, it was weakened by the fact that somehow the FBI team somehow manages to fight off 40 armed terrorists in the climax, despite their horrible situation and small numbers. It reminded me of Commando with all the bullets they somehow dodged.
