Review of The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters (2007) by Robert G — 08 Mar 2011
This documentary could have taken the easy route and gone all "oh, lets look at these losers play a 30 year old videogame while we play wacky music". While there is a little of that, this movie more than makes up for it by showing a group of people with a strong sense of community and determination.
It it follows a great narrative that kept me glued until the very end. You learn to care for these people, even if one of them happens to be the most pretentious douchbags in the universe. I highly recommend this film to anyone who wants to get an inside look at rarely seen side of the world of videogames.
