Review of The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters (2007) by Robert H — 16 Sep 2011

I'm not a big fan of documentaries so I don't know if it was because of the subject matter, the rivalry or due to the fact that despite the staged elements, this was a well told story.

King of Kong is one of those documentaries that tell the story from all angles, all perspectives and yet, still manages to find the conflict in an arena that you might think would otherwise be a rather happy one.

Gamers on the other hand, know just what kind of crazy world is out there and how competitive and evil other games can be. People will cheat, steal, grief and any number of other nasty things in order to be the top seed, attack the top seed or help propel someone they know to the top of the hill.

King of Kong shows us that there are still some people out there who are just good people and some who are just in it for the love of the game... and winning ;).
