Review of The King of Comedy (1982) by Kenneth G — 23 Apr 2008
One of the funniest and underrated movies of all time. A film in the vein of Network in its depiction of where society may end up with its obsession with celebrity and media, Robert De Niro stars as Rupert Pupkin superfan of talk show host, Jerry Langford, played by Jerry Lewis.
Rupert Hatches a plan to get on Jerry's show and is aided by fellow obsessed fan Masha, played by Sandra Bernhard, a role that should have gotten her an Oscar nod. Also in the film are Dianne Abbott, Tony Randall and former supermodel and Charlie's Angel, Shelley Hack.
