Review of The King of Comedy (1982) by Rodney E — 03 Sep 2008
Scorsese needed to make this before he did the stellar After Hours. DeNiro is awesome as Rupert Pupkin and Jerry Lewis is asshole gold. There's a few missing ingredients that doesn't make this a must see classic but it is good none the less.
Pupkin is the reasons to see this. You can take or leave Sandra Bernhard but she actually is pretty funny in this. In the middle ground in the canon of Martin Scorsese but a good comedy and worth checking out.
