Review of The King of Comedy (1982) by Jared H — 22 Jun 2009
Scorsese has a penchant for stories of deviant and dark behavior, but this is far more light-hearted if not nearly as lauded as raging Bull or Taxi Driver, etc. Riveting satire. Jerry Lewis was of course fun.
Deniro and Bernhard play phenomenal creepy roles of wannabes that stick with you. Timely idea in capturing what would play out in real life with Hinkley and others. Good 'ol Rupert Pupkin doesn't have to wait no more.
The line between infamous and famous is very thin.
