Review of The King of Comedy (1982) by Douglas S — 14 Jul 2009
Picked this up the other day from the grocery store while gettin' some stuff. I must say that this film was incredible. It's easily in my top 10 Scorsese films. Anyway, I thought the acting by all was very good (except Sandra Bernhard bothered me at times).
The film did a great job of walking the fine line between comedy and "dementia", so to speak. It was very dark and disturbing, but you couldn't help but laugh at the majority of things happening, even though if they were to happen in reality, they wouldn't be funny at all.
VERY good film and one of Scorsese's better ones (although I am biased cause I've liked ANY Scorsese film I've ever seen).
